Running on the Marlborough Downs
Do you fancy a change of scenery and a great place in the country for some training runs? There are lots of running routes around Ogbourne St.George.
If you are a runner who's used to pounding town or city streets, you'll find the Marlborough Downs a beautiful and therapeutic place to run, with a mix of footpaths, trails and grass tracks, and great views.
There are lots of lovely hilly routes across the downs. But if you want flat routes, the Old Railway Path (Sustrans Route 482) and back lanes that runs north-south through the Og valley are good as well.
One end of The Ridgeway National Trail is nearby at Overton Hill. It goes via Barbary Castle to Ogbourne St.George, then onto Uffington and Sparsholt Firs. Marlborough Running Club organises the Ridgeway Relay (which passes through our village) and the Marlborough Downs Challenge, part of the Ultra Running series.
